Resolution H:

Resolution H: Members of the Society believe that a large measure fans ownership of the club is its only effective long-term safeguard. As such we do not wish to place an upper limit on money raised by the WST. In support of this we call upon the board of the WST to set up a sub committee, drawn from the membership, to co-ordinate and increase the revenues of the society.

Again we are grateful to the board of WST for backing this measure.

At some point in the future the current owners will be looking to exit the club.

WST needs to be a part of the regime that takes it over and for that we will need more money than we currently have at this point. How much? Who can say, there is no indicative price, however the more money we raise the more say we can have in the consortium.

If people don't see something being done with at least some of the money raised non-members will stop donating. I know of many members who have resigned for this very reason. The 50% idea by the current board seems sensible to me.

but then members who donate specifically for equity will resign or cut their contributions.

It's a tough one this I grant you... but the membership is dwindling at least the 50/50 idea is an attempt to please both sides. My feeling is that the members who want all the money for equity would be loyal and sensible enough to see the overall benefit of the 50/50 idea... or at least some sort of split. What about a situation where donors can choose where their money goes... set up 2 funds? I think that would be a good compromise between the 2 groups although I'm not sure of the ins and outs or feasibility of such an idea.... but it would allow non-WST fans or those who don't want a fan owned club (oh yes, there are quite a few) to donate the odd coin or 2.

this is pretty much what we will propose in opposition to res D.

there are no problems with setting up two funds and people can state where there money actually goes.

how democratic is that?

Sounds like the best way to me without a shadow of a doubt... what is the current boards position on this?
